Meet Dr Gloria Sham

Dr Gloria Sham is an experienced and fully qualified private Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Adelaide, with a range of interest from high-risk pregnancies to abnormal cervical screening tests. Dr Sham’s many years of experience makes her highly equipped to perform abdominal, laparoscopic and vaginal surgeries.

A graduate from The University of Adelaide, Dr Sham is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). Dr Sham is currently an O&G staff specialist at the Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital. In this role, she is actively involved in educating, mentoring and supporting medical students, junior doctors and registrars. Prior to her return to Adelaide, Dr Sham was a full-time staff specialist at Ipswich Hospital in Queensland.

Dr Sham’s journey to becoming a Doctor started at a really young age with a vision to help and care for others.

After following a lady through her pregnancy journey and being fortunate to witness the birth of her newborn during the first year in studying Medicine, Dr Sham was inspired by this experience and was determined to become an  Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.

I am thankful for the privilege to not only walk through the journey of motherhood with women, but also to provide continuity in care through their life. I look forward to welcoming you at Nurture Women’s Care.

After obtaining her medical degree from the University of Adelaide, Dr Sham gained invaluable experience in various areas of medicine amongst some of the largest teaching hospitals in South Australia and Queensland including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Her exposure to a broad spectrum of medicine early in her career was intrinsic to her subsequent specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Queensland.

Throughout specialist training, Dr Sham developed and refined her skills whilst working in regional and tertiary hospitals in South East Queensland, as well as being mentored by some of the state’s most reputable and experienced specialists. Her tertiary training was completed at Mater Mothers’ Hospital in Brisbane, which is one of Australia’s largest and most experienced maternity service providers, delivering more than 10,000 babies every year.
